I'm happy to be linking up with Let's Bee Social over at Sew Fresh Quilts.  I want to be posting more, but I just don't seem to be having a lot of new news to report.

I have been working away at my latest Quilts of Valor quilt and have gotten all the smaller red blocks pieced and now I'm working on piecing all the smaller blue ones.  Here is a glance at how things are progressing.

Small red blocks, check.  Next the small blue ones.
Two blocks completed.

I took time Monday to sew 12" blocks together and adding the border on a quilt for our guild that will be going to someone battling cancer.  Sad to say, the picture is a poor one.  The recipient loves purple so the nine patches are done in purple fabrics and the solid squares are blue/purple.

I added a little more to my redwork block, but need to be doing a lot more before the end of April to reach my monthly goal.

Tonight is the meeting for the Las Vegas Modern Quilt Guild, my first one, so we will be heading down to Vegas and staying the night with family then back home early tomorrow so I can attend my guild meeting here and my next mastery class for my new Bernina tomorrow afternoon.

My Splendid Sampler blocks, EPP and cross-stitch projects have been on hold, but I need to get moving on them before they become serious UFOs.

And for fun, how about making a table topper for the 4th of July?  Do you celebrate the holiday with a picnic and watching fireworks?  This would be perfect for indoors or outdoors.  Thanks to Connie over at Freemotion by the River.

  2. Since I am a project jumper too, it's not always that easy to recognize progress... little bits here and there, but I guess that's exactly what it takes to finish a quilt. Those first blocks are great! I've been toying around with the idea of doing a bear claw block sometime soon.

When I'm visiting my family then I get to be in on the 4th of July party fun... here in Germany, it's just another day.

    1. Thanks Allison for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I do like a lot of variety in projects to work on. I must say, I'm never bored. :)

  3. I like that little table topper! It always amazes me how the old, basic blocks like Rail Fence continue to look fresh and fun. You can't go wrong with red, white and blue.

And your QOV will be great in those colors, too. Where do you send your QOV quilts? Have you made one before?

    1. Hi Louise. I agree with you on the older blocks always being a hit. I love red, white, and blue and that is probably what draws me to making the quilts for the Quilts of Valor, plus that they are going to well-deserving individuals.

    1. Thank you Lindsay. I'm really enjoying the QoV quilt I'm working on now. The last one I donated was a mystery quilt that turned out to have stars and I did it in red, white, blue, and gold.

  5. You sound as if you are having a busy month. I like your rework, especially the snowman from a couple of weeks ago, he is very cute. With my Bernina it was love at first stitch, nine years later we are still in love and never had a crossed word. I clean her after every project and treat her to a new needle and it keeps her happy.

    1. Hi Kate. I know how you feel about your Bernina. Marion and I found love at first sight too. I'm having fun learning all that she can do. Today I had my second mastery class and learned more of the things she can do. Of course now I want some more feet for her. :)

  6. I do the same thing, with hopping from project to project. I need to get to a point that I am finishing things faster.

    1. I keep thinking I'll get the projects done that I'm working on and then stick to one project at a time. It never happens. :)
