Muggamo and Quilt Show

February was a major busy month for me.  My local quilt guild held their yearly quilt show and I volunteered to be the intake coordinator as the lady who had done it for several years was in the process of moving out of state.

I had entered four quilts/wall hangings in the show and brought home three ribbons, plus $50 in prize money, plus a free entry into next years show (3rd prize).

Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt for 2014,
Grand Illusion took 1st Place

This table topper/wall hanging was a
challenge from my local quilt guild
this year and took 2nd place

A panel I bought in Idaho one
summer and made into a child's
quilt last year took 3rd place

My favorite was a block challenge
from my Las Vegas Modern
Quilt Guild this year that didn't place.  :(

Of course, there were lots of vendors at our show and I did lots of shopping with my winnings plus a lot more $$$ added in.

On the left a new template for
making stars and a paper piecing kit

Some really beautiful ombre
fabric and a pattern

Fat quarter bundles, half yard
bundles, jelly roll, and a pattern

Other than the quilt show work, I actually accomplished a lot, so here goes.

I have been wanting to join Jen over at Patterns By Jen for her monthly mug rug pattern program (muggamo), but didn't have the time in January (quilt show stuff going on) and didn't think I'd make it for February, but since I finished my one monthly goal on Saturday, I took the time yesterday to make it and had fun doing it.  I dug into my stash and found some leftover Bronco fabric from the travel bag I made for a Christmas gift back in 2015.  So here it is in all its glory.  Be sure to check out Jen's blog for the March mugrug pattern.

Go Broncos Mug Rug

Here is a picture of the block(s) that I made for Hive 5's February Stash Bee Queen.  She didn't want them joined together as she is going to mix them up with all the blocks she receives.

I completed my One Monthly Goal, but that will be in another post real soon.

And last, but not least, I finished another redwork block.  My goal is to get all the blocks finished and made into a Christmas quilt to hang up in our 5th wheel before Christmas.  Wish me luck.

Well that's it for now.

Happy stitching

  1. As much as I dislike the Broncos (heehee), that mugrug looks great! That is a great idea for any sports team. It looks really good.
Congrats on the ribbons! Those are some fantastic quilts. Well deserved winning. :)

    1. You dislike the Broncos? How can that be. I lived in Colorado for about 23 years and now live in Nevada. I went from beautiful mountains to the desert. I must be nuts. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking time to comment

  3. Awesome job! You hauled in the ribbons! And what a haul of goodies as well! 😊 Night Flight (that was the name of your drunkard's path mini, right?) is a favorite of mine that you've made, it's a winner in my book! 😊

    1. Many, many thanks Jennifer. Yep, it was called Night Flight and one I designed and quilted. I was sad it didn't get a ribbon. Oh well! Next year they will have a different judge and we'll see how I do with her. :)

    1. Thanks Louise. This is my first year being a part of a bee and I'm loving it so far. April is my month and I'm trying to decide what block I want everyone to make for me.

  5. Congratulations! You really rocked that quilt show; how brave to enter and aren't you glad you did! I love Night Flight but it wasn't what they were looking for; as you said, someone else might give it a ribbon. I would if they'd let me. Nice prizes you got yourself too. Hugs.
