One Monthly Goal for March

Maybe my one monthly goal for March will actually be two goals.

I participated in the Meadow Mystery quilt designed by Cheryl over at Meadow Mist Designs.  I love how mine turned out and yesterday I added a border.  My first and main goal for March is to buy backing material and batting and get it quilted.  I keep looking at it, but have no idea how I'll quilt it.  Usually, early on I'll get a feeling about the quilting I'll do, but no feeling so far.  It best be hitting me pretty soon.

Here is a picture of my top that I will be free motion quilting/walking foot quilting.  Oh, and that's my quilt inspector, Lola, making sure it is ready to quilt:

My second goal will be to complete three of my redwork blocks for a Christmas wall hanging that I hope to have finished by, you guessed it, Christmas.  I just started one of the smaller ones and here it is.  The pattern, "Holiday Redwork" came from The Stitch Connection.  I originally saw it posted on Pinterest and fell in love with it.  I've started using a product called Transfer Eze which I purchased last summer at a quilt shop in Oregon.  It works great.  I just print out the design I want to embroider and press it to my fabric.  It washes out just like it says.  You can buy it through Amazon HERE.   It was only $15.00 for a ten pack when I purchased it.

Sunday is my local quilt guild's spring retreat in Amargosa Valley, NV, which is about 50 miles from where we live.  I had so much fun last year and really got a lot accomplished and hope I do this year to.  I'm packing enough projects to keep me busy for a month or two, not just four days.  But I'm sure you know how that goes.

I'll be linking up with One Monthly Goal over at Elm Street Quilts.  Thank you Patty.

Happy stitching

  1. Thanks for the recommendation for Transfer Eze. I don't do much embroidery but there are occasions I'd like to do handwork. This would be great. Good luck on your March OMG and have fun at the retreat!

    1. Thanks Nann for stopping by. I really like the Transfer Eze as it is so much better than tracing the design on the material.

    1. Hi Anita, I hope to get a lot accomplished on retreat (don't we all?) and have started packing things up. I may do some cutting tomorrow for a jelly roll quilt pattern so all I'll need to do is sew on it.

  3. Oooh, a retreat sounds fun! I've never been on one, but I'm sure there is plenty of fun and productivity when a group of quilty people gather. 😊 Looking forward to seeing how you quilt your Meadow Mystery quilt. Elvis says hello to Lola! 😊

    1. My first retreat was last year in March and I had a fantastic time. You should try it sometime. I've got no clue how to quilt the mystery quilt, but I'm hoping something will come to me when I get back from retreat. I'll need to get backing, batting, and get that puppy sandwiched.

    1. I really enjoy doing mystery quilts, some people don't like them as you don't know what you will be making until the reveal.

  8. I see lots of white space you could get very creative with FMQ there. Sometimes after waiting for the quilt to tell me what it wants, I just have to start and then it usually flows. I love it; it's bright and cheery.
I know you will have a great time at your quilt retreat. I get to go to Spring Retreat with my Quirky Quilters this year which is great since I had to pass on Fall Retreat. Like you, I always have more projects to work on then I have time to do them but I also get a lot accomplished at retreat. Have a ball!!!

Lola's looking good and I'm glad to see she's still on duty when needed.

    1. Thanks Marsha, I'm looking forward to quilting it with lots of FMQ going on. I may try to do some wild quilting (been taking a craftsy class on it) Retreat was fun, but of course I came home early with a horrible cold, a bit better today, but very snuffy. So glad you are going to go to the Spring Retreat since you missed the fall one.

    1. Many thanks for your kind comments. I enjoy doing the redwork at night when I don't have the best lighting for using my sewing machine.

    1. Hi Raewyn! This month should be a breeze compared to last month, except I now have a cold that I got at retreat so down for a couple days. :(

  12. Hope it speaks up quickly with quilting designs. I was at my guild retreat a few weeks ago and had lots of things to work on too. One bag had the priority things and the other the nice to get to ones. Just in case the must went faster than I expected them to. Naturally the musts took longer than expected but the chats and walks to see what everyone was working on were fun

    1. The musts always take longer than we think they will. I got a lot accomplished even though I came home a day early with a horrible cold. :(

    1. Hi KaHolly, there is always the next one that I believe will be starting in July. If you join in you won't be needing to kick yourself in that spot. :)
