I'll be finishing the quilting on this today and hope to get the binding finished by Monday or Tuesday. It's a birthday gift for my wonderful granddaughter, Dakotah, who will be turning 20 this fall.
The pattern is Lightning Strikes by Chris Timmins from Grafton, Australia.
I started it while we were volunteers at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Armagosa Valley, Nevada and finished piecing it at the Preferred RV Resort in Pahrump, Nevada. Now we are campground hosts at Sam Owen Campground in Hope, ID where I'll finish it. Next we head to Morrison, Colorado for my son's wedding when I'll gift it to Dakotah. You might say it is already a well traveled quilt.
Backing and quilting on Lightning Strikes:
We are slowly preparing for our trip to Colorado with a planned three day stop at Yellowstone National Park. I'm thinking I should be able to find a quilt shop somewhere in the vicinity. Any suggestions?
Absolutely gorgeous! I love the colors and that piecing looks so intricate; what size is the quilt? I love the loop-de-doo quilting with the hearts, such a cute touch. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was really easy to make, ironing the seams was the hard part. It is 90"x100". I learned the quilting technique from Patsy Thompson videos I checked out from the library. They were really fun and fairly easy to do. I need lots of practice on my stitch length.
