2016 Quilting/Blogging and Planning and Giveaway

I think this is the first time I have posted two days in a row, but this is a very important post so pay very close attention to it.   You ask, what can be so important.  Well, I'm linking up with Yvonne over at Quilting Jetgirl for her 2016 Quilting/Blogging Planning and Giveaway.  I hope you will be joining it too.

Below I'm listing my goals for 2016.
  • Complete my Midnight Mystery quilt.  I hope to donate this to QOV.  I just joined this group through my local quilt guild and it is such a worthwhile organization.  If you'd like to know more about this organization, click here.
  • I want to learn more about blogging so that I can get better at it and be more consistent in my posting.  I've been flopping along on this and I know there is a lot I need to learn to be successful at it.
  • Get a tote made for my aunt as I'll be visiting her this winter in Florida.  I already have cute kitty material and the pattern for this, just need to do it.
  • I had planned to make a banner for each month to hang outside.  I got September and October done and then the holidays hit and November is still in the works.  I want to start in January and make one for February and finish Novembers and then in February make the one for March and so on.
  • I started collecting material for Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt for this year which started on Black Friday.  I'll save all the clues and get working on it once I get all the material I need.  I plan on this being the only mystery quilt I do this year.
  • I plan to make another QOV quilt as I have collected a lot of red, white, and blue material.
  • I also plan to make to baby/child quilts to donate.  I have the material for two quilts.
  • I plan on using a lot of my stash that I've been building up as you can tell by the above.
  • I want to complete one Rosette each month for the New Hexagon Stitch Along.  I ordered the paper templates for this as I was printing them out and going through ink like there was no tomorrow and that stuff isn't cheap.
  • Practice, practice, practice my embroidery stitches weekly.
  • Make two cross-stitched stockings, one for my granddaughter and one for my granddaughter-in-law to be (August 27th).  These, of course, need to be done by next Christmas.  I've bought all the floss they had available at Walmart recently and hope to get the rest while in Las Vegas with family over Christmas.
  • I hope to do more wool applique.
  • I would love to create a tutorial for my blog, but not sure what in the world I could do one on, but will be thinking of this a lot.
I think that is plenty to accomplish this next year, but it is all doable since I am now retired.

  1. I've loved reading all the goal posts for the coming year, so much determination and vision! It looks like you're going to be a very busy crafter this year, but that's the best kind of crafter to be! I'm going to have to check into QOV, I've read about it several times on different blogs. Some of my goals overlap with yours, it will be fun to see how we both grow this year! :)

    1. It is a lot of fun to read about everyone's goals for the coming year. I hope to be more focused and not have so many projects going at one time. I do finish everything I start, it just might take me a few years. I know we'll both do well in 2016 and I love your blog. I must say that you were responsible for me taking the blogging jump and I thank you wholeheartedly. Give LBC a pet for me as I miss having a kitty.

  2. Thank you so much for linking up! I think you have such a generous heart and I really enjoyed that so many of your goals are to make and donate quilts. If you are looking for blogging help, I hope you consider joining the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers blog hop... details will come out in the early spring for how to sign up! :) I hope 2016 will be a wonderful year for you.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Yvonne. I think you are giving me more credit than I deserve regarding the donating of quilts. Everyone in my small family now has a quilt and since I love to quilt I'll be doing a lot of donating from now on. I am so happy to see that there is going to be a 2016 New Quilt Bloggers blog hop and I will certainly be signing up. Many thanks for hosting this linky party as it will help me to stay focused. My next step is to enter all my goals into my Quilter's Planner. Happy quilting.

  3. Jennifer, you have a lot of projects on your list but I also know you have the motivation to do them. I am not going to make a list of my goals for 2016. Last January I said 2015 was going to be a 'small project' year and I"ve done so many! I should make a list of all I did! Thanks for sharing your ideas as it makes the rest of us really think about what we're going to do! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by Marsha. You are such an inspiration to me and I look forward to many years of friendship with you. In the past I've had goals in the back of my mind and when I saw Yvonne's post I knew I needed to join in and put my goals in writing. May you and your family be blessed this Christmas and in the coming year.

  4. I'm joining you from the link up. You have great goals, very specific. I'm working on the Midnight Mystery as well. I was part of the New Quilt Bloggers blog hop in 2015 and I would highly recommend it. I learned a lot but of course there is still lots to learn.

    1. Hi Lisa. I'm so glad you are joining in. I was worried there wasn't going to be a 2016 New Quilt Bloggers blog hop until Yvonne responded to my post. I'll definitely be signing up for it as I need all the help I can get. :)

    1. Many thanks Leanne. I'm sure I won't get everything single thing accomplished that I hope to, but I'm definitely going to give it a try.
