I've completed the top for my Grandson, Cole's, quilt and now I'm piecing the back out of more old men's shirts that I collected from various thrift stores. I'm hoping to get the back all finished before the dinner tonight. I'm half way there so only have another 8 rows to go. Here is what it looks like so far.
The rows are just laid out on the floor and not sewn together yet. The light smaller half row is to make it 16 1/2 squares long and I decided to use the lighter shirt for this rather than the darker ones and it will be 1/4 of the way down from the top. Definitely scrappy. After I got the first photo, Lola decided she liked the backing and had to get in the picture. :-) For those of you who have not seen the top here it is.
I still need to purchase batting for it and currently have a 50% off coupon from Jo Ann's so may try to find one close to where we are and get it today before leaving tomorrow. That way when I get back to our homebase I won't have to travel into Las Vegas to purchase it. Frankly, I'm a bit tired from all the travel, sightseeing, and wedding and just want to be in one place for a bit. Happy Quilting!
Your quilt front is very impressive but I also really love this scrappy back; I would be quite happy to have it on the front of a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kaja. I have the rows of the back all done, now I just have to join them when we get back to Nevada and my machine is set back up.
DeleteSuch happy scrappiness! The top turned out wonderful and the back is coming along great! I hope the wedding went well. :)
ReplyDeleteThe wedding was fantastic. Last night we all got together for dinner at my daughter's home which was wonderful. We leave this morning for Nevada and will take 3 days to get there. No quilting until then. :(
DeleteYour Scrappy Mountain quilt top is wonderful! Love the very serene look to it.:)
ReplyDeleteThank you Audrey. I've had a lot of fun making it.
DeleteLooks like you are going to have a reversible quilt. I like your backing idea as much as the Scrappy Mountain Majesties. I like quilts that use men's shirts. Coupons are always a good thing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy. I've never used shirts before; it has been a fun experience so I'm sure I'll do it again.
Deletelove the scrappy plaids! Seema like they all play so nice together, it's just great fun to put them together?! cheers!
