Today I'm linking up to WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced.  Many thanks Lee.

I have been working on Rosette 9 on The New Hexagon Millefiore Quilt Along and I should get that one finished tonight.  I have been totally obsessed with this project and don't seem to be working on anything else, but I must take a break and work on some other projects.

My grandson's quilt must get finished and in the mail.  His birthday is coming up in December.  I will be adding a border to the backing to solve the issue of it being the same size as the front and since I will be free motion quilting it, the backing needs to be a few inches larger than the top.  Thank you to one of my readers, Ivani, for the suggestion.  She does some lovely work so check out her blog here.

So far I have pin basted all my large quilts even though I have had 3 cans of 505 in my quilting supplies.  I've been worried that they will come apart during the quilting process since some of my practice sandwiches have.  I guess I may need to use more spray a large quilt.  I also watched two videos on a different technique for hand basting large quilts.    Here are the links for those tutorials:

I'm wondering if anyone out there has tried this process and can tell me their experience using it.  It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm still waiting on the next block for the Christmas Mystery Quilt Blog Hop and some wool that I've ordered to start a felted wool stash.

I found a really, really cute sewing machine cover on Instagram that I ordered the pattern for and will be shopping my stash to make it.  You can order this pattern on Esty from Rainbow Hare

This week we have been having some beautiful sunsets so I thought I would share one of those with you.

Our medical and dental appointments have been moving right along and we actually don't have too much going on during the month of November.  I go in to the eye doctor on November 4th to schedule my cataract surgeries and I'm hoping those can be done in November or December, at the latest, as we are still hoping to be back on the road right after Christmas or New Years.

    1. The pattern is very detailed with lots of pictures. I printed out 49 pages of instructions and patterns and have started pulling fabric from my stash for it.

  2. I use the Schamber method of basting and really like it. I'm old enough that my knees really don't like crawling on the floor to pin baste. The Schamber method means I can baste on my kitchen counter, which is the right height for me. I haven't had any problems with wrinkles on the backing and I enjoy being able to just clip away threads as I quilt. Hope that helps.

    1. Many thanks Joan for your comment. I think I will try it. I'm going to measure my grandson's quilt and see about getting the trim at Home Depot when we go today. Gotta get busy and get that quilt done. I had one knee replacement done and don't want to have another one. :)

    1. Thanks Cut&Alter. I think I am more obsessed than patient. Either way I'm having fun doing something that I can do while traveling this next year.

  4. That sewing machine cover is absolutely fantastic! And your EPP is lovely as usual. :) I need to make a cover for my machine, but it's far far down on the ever growing to do list. Lol.

    1. It sounds like your to-do list is my lists twin. I know one thing, I have to stop buying fabric and planning new projects, at least until I finish some of my WIP.

  5. I think this is my favorite of your rosettes! Very pretty! I have watched those videos and bookmarked them - if I ever try thread basting, this is the method I will use as I have read several bloggers who favor it.

Yes, the sunsets have been awesome lately! We had a bit of rain this morning too, here in Henderson, did you have any?

  6. Hi Heidi. Many thanks for your comment. We came down to Henderson on the 29th and will be heading back to Pahrump this morning. I finished up Rosette 9 while visiting family and it now looks like that character in the Ice Age movies with the big eyes. I'll be posting a picture when we get back home.

  7. Hello Heidi, I think the sewing machine cover is adorable. I have also viewed Sharon's basting method and tried it out. I think it is brilliant and my basted quilt came out very well. No puckers. Easy on the back. It is the only way that I will baste.
