This past week has had a lot of different things going on. First, I did manage to finish two of the Splendid Sampler blocks, 17 and 19, and got started on Block 20. I still have a ways to go to catch up, but I'm not worried about it .

Block 20 in the works
Earlier in the week I practiced a lot of free motion quilting trying to get used to my new sewing machine. First a spent time on some wild quilting and then I drew out some ideas on a practice sandwich for my Night Flight wall hanging. Below is a glimpse of that practice session. I need to do a lot more practicing before I actually put the wall hanging under the needle. Night Flight needs to be completed no later than May 24th.
On Saturday I was back at Sew Yeah Quilting for a trunk show by Christa Watson. Oh my gosh, she had all her quilts form both of her books and it was great to see them up close and personal. I have had her first book on my Kindle for awhile, and now I have her second book, which was co-authored with Angela Walters, in hardback and signed by both authors. Christa is an amazing quilter, author, and speaker. One day I hope to have the opportunity take one of her classes. She will be at Quilt Con 2017 and I'm hoping to be there too.

I missed out on posting Sunday as I didn't take my computer down to Las Vegas. Today, I'm linking up with Linky Tuesday over at Freemotion by the River.
Happy Stitching!
I came here through Freemotion by the River. I checked out your about page and saw that one of your favorite movies was "Out of Africa". I had to laugh because I thought that I was the only remaining soul who remembered and loved it. This is crazy but...... when I just by chance clicked on that title it brought up 4,300 other bloggers who have that movie listed on their profile as one of their favorite movie.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that hilarious. I am on that list somewhere but didn't click through 4,300.
It must say something about all of us. What romantics we all are or how much we love Redford or hair washing scenes. Hah........I am seeing him in my mind right now. I wonder how many of us have "Bridges of Madison County" on our lists also.
Hi Sissy and thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and to comment. I think I will always love "Out of Africa" and it is the first movie I think of when asked about favorite movies. Very interesting that so many bloggers have listed it too. Like minds. :)
DeleteI love hearing how inspired you're feeling after your classes. I'm excited to see what you come up with! The quilting for Night Flight looks cool, can't wait to see it all.
ReplyDeleteI love learning and will always take classes whenever I can, which isn't too often since we tend to travel a lot. I'll be quilting Night Flight this week as I have to take it to the guild meeting next Wednesday.
DeleteThe class and show sounds exciting and it also sounds as if you are going to enjoy your new designing adventure ! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Deb. You are right that the class and show were exciting. I don't get to attend many quilting functions since we are on the road traveling a lot. I'm also excited to do some designing which I never thought I would do. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWow, a modern quilt design class and Christa's trunk show! How lucky! Looking forward to seeing what comes out of all this inspiration
ReplyDeleteI have two designs in the works, both on paper at this point. Need to quilt Night Flight and then I'll start putting them together while we are on the road.
DeleteThat's a beautiful quilt in the making! And it seems to me that your quilting practice went very well. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nadeau. I'm having trouble designing the quilting for the black background, but it needs to come up with something really soon as it is due to be finished by the 25th.
DeleteThe class you took sounds awesome! I met the other part of Christa's book at a class with Angela Walters...so inspiring to actually see the quilts from the book. And I had just reviewed the book for Christa. I don't know if she showed you one of her first quilts, but Angela did and it helped me to see where I could be if I put the time into it. Can't wait to see what you do with such yummy colors!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon. How exciting to have had a class with Angela. I think I have all her free motion books. I need a lot more practicing on my new machine and we are heading out for the summer so that practice time is going to be very limited. :(
