Russian River and Quilting Fun

We are finally having some cooler weather and enjoying every minute of it.  Thursday morning we traveled to Santa Rosa, California for the day and had fun touring the Luther Burbank Home and Gardens.  We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the home, but here are a few of the Gardens.  Don't know about Luther Burbank?  Check here to learn more about this amazing gentlemen.

We went to the Historic Railroad Square and had lunch which was delicious and my husband met Woodstock. There were Snoopy characters all about.  We didn't have time to visit the Charles Shultz Museum, but hope to tomorrow or Tuesday.

We also traveled over the Sebastopol to find a unique fabric and notions store the Docent at the Burbank Gardens and Home told us about.  We finally found it and it was pretty neat.  All items were donated and were recycled.  They were extremely organized as you can see by the picture.  I did purchase some Christmas fabric for my hexagon project.

Christmas Fabric Purchase

Friday we went into Cloverdale to visit the museum there, but it wasn't open even though it was supposed to be.  But there was a quilt shop next door so of course I had to viist it.  Surprise of all surprises, I found some material.  Actually, I found lots of material I would like to have bought, but just purchased one yard of some cute fabric with travel trailers, trucks, trees, tents, and bicycles on it.  We also enjoyed lunch at two different restaurants.  Miles had tamales at a mexican place and I had a hamburger and shake at different place.  First time we've ever done that.

Saturday we went into Ukiah to pick up meds at the Walmart as it was a down day for us.  I spent time chain piecing more rows on the postage stamp pattern I'm testing.  I have nine rows pieced and only need to do 34 more.  It may take the rest of the year to finish.  I also spent some time outside enjoying the cool breeze and worked on my hexagon project using some of that Christmas fabric I purchased.  As you can see I'm using my Gadget Girl's Took Kit.  You can find the pattern for it here.

Today is going to probably be another down day with breakfast here at the campground chuck wagon.  We had a very nice breakfast there yesterday so figured why give up a good thing as they only do the breakfasts on Saturdays and Sundays.

Linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching today.

Happy Stitching!

    1. Hi Yvonne, yep, the piecing is taking forever. I guess I'm not a fan of postage stamp quilting.

  4. Such fun travels and adventures! Mindless chain piecing isn't too bad, but I always manage to mix up colors at least once! Lol
