Yosemite National Park and Quilting

We arrived at Yosemite Lakes RV Park on Wednesday afternoon which is our home until June 8th when we'll travel over to Russian River which is north of San Francisco.

We have made three trips into the Park so far and will make one more tomorrow.  The beauty is totally mind blowing (yes, I'm an old hippie from the 60's).  Here are a couple pictures I took in the park.  Tomorrow we'll be hiking up to Yosemite Falls and then I'll be able to get pictures of the upper and lower falls.

We also went into Groveland, CA which is west of where we are and enjoyed a delicious lunch at a small cafĂ©.  It surprised me that many of the buildings in this quaint town had barn quilts on the fronts or sides of them.  Here is one of the pretty barn quilts.

Yesterday we traveled into Sonora, CA which is a town we frequented quite often, as it was the only place to buy groceries, when we were work campers at an RV park in Columbia, CA back in 2010.  We enjoyed some fresh baked goodies at our favorite coffee house and then hit Jo-Ann's and Walmart for some necessities.  I started cutting out fabric for a wall-hanging pattern that I am testing for someone.  A lot of one and a half inch squares to cut out.  I'll be doing more of the cutting today and hopefully some chain piecing as today is a down day for us.

Above is a picture of how I keep track of fabric for a pattern  I put each cut fabric in a baggie and mark which part of the pattern it is for, how many pieces are needed, and how many pieces are in the bag.

I'll be linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching today.  The only slow stitching I did this week was on my redwork which has now come to a screeching halt as I also forgot my redwork patterns as well as my cross-stitch Christmas stocking.  GRRR!!!  I told my husband we'd have to go back home so I could get them, but that won't happen as we are too far from down the road from home.

I'm hoping this will post okay as we are in a complete dead zone and I'm having to use very limited WiFi in the lodge.

Happy stitching.

  3. Your pictures of the waterfalls are beautiful. Do you know how high the drop is? What would we do without sandwich bags? I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one that uses them. Enjoy your hike tomorrow. Hope you are able to get lots of beautiful pictures.

    1. Hi Tish, I don't know how far the drop is on the fall, but it's a good distance. We had a nice hike to the lower falls and around that area.

  4. Oh, what I would give to visit a place so beautiful! I've never been west of the Ohio River, so seeing pictures of places out west makes my nature loving heart ache to travel!

  5. How sad that you didn't get those three continuing projects into the little 5er. I'm not worried about you keeping busy though! I know you brought lots of fabric with you and you'll get some projects done. I know it. Have a wonderful time; so happy that both of you like to hike so you can see the best sites.

    1. It did make me very cranky that I left them behind, but like you commented, I have lots of things to keep me busy. ☺
